Who is Nate

Hello.

I’m Nate. I do awesome projects with awesome people.

I believe the world we live in is complicated but the more we’re able to connect with each other on a human-level the closer we’ll get to improving and simplifying life. I think education is complicated and in need of reform so I started Simple Labs (formerly Pedestrian Consulting). We teach, write and build projects at the intersection of entrepreneurship, technology and creativity.

Here are some thoughts on particular topics important to me and my mission:
Happiness • Holistic • Communication • Education • Technology • Rock the Boat

I started Reboot Workshop with Jim Hopkinson. Reboot is an organization and conference that brings together thought-leaders and experts to encourage entrepreneurship. I came up with the idea for Happstr and managed a team of experts on the StartupBus to encourage global happiness because I think you can achieve success through happiness. We were nominated for a humanizing technology award from BigThink. In 2014 I was conductor for the New York City StartupBus recruiting, mentoring and corralling a team of 27 tech entrepreneurs. New York City won the North America competition. I  successfully funded a Kickstarter to make a web comic to help beginners to build a website. It was picked up by a publisher and I am currently writing the book with a publish date in mid-2014.

I work with individuals and companies on customized training modules on Apple software, web technologies and anything too complicated that needs some humanizing. I want to save you and your company money by helping you build your website or brand to your specs. I teach public, group classes throughout New York City. Read more here.

Speaking

I co-founded the Reboot Workshop, a daylong un-conference in New York City for entrepreneurs. He’s spoken at SXSW and at the Penny Conference For Skillshare in New York City. Read more here.

Writing

I’ve written guest posts for Skillshare and the NYTech Women. I’ve contributed to Mashable and am a regular contributor to the Freelance Strategist. My blog natecooper.net has been going strong since 2005. One post I wrote on education went viral in 2012. Check out my writer’s profile on Contently. I’m also currently writing an instructional comic book on building a website for No Starch Press. Read more here.
